This exquisite antique 1920s hand embroidered cotton whitework tea dress is in absolutely astonishing vintage condition for a piece of this era, with no flaws to mention and would make an enchanting choice of alternative bridal wear. The dress is a simple shift cut with a wide drop waistband at the hip, a gentle scoop neckline and pretty elbow length sleeves with a scalloped trim. The soft, lightweight cotton fabric is skilfully adorned with a detailed floral motif on the bodice and sleeves, detailing flower shaped eyelets at the centre bust and neckline. The skirt is delicately gathered below the waistband and finishes at the ankle in a series of horizontal pin tucks and a dainty scalloped lace hem. Modern popper fastenings have been discretely added to the left side at some point to enable the wearer to slip into the dress more effortlessly. This beautiful piece is truly immaculate and a rare find for the discerning collector or vintage loving bride. We estimate this will fit sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 and smaller. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in. (180cm) and this dress was a good fit on her.
